Words of...Wisdom?

Pregnancy Things I'm Loving

There are so many things that you're supposed to do or not do while pregnant, as well as a million opinions out there about what the best or worst 'X' is. I'm not here to add my voice to the sound chamber of advice or get up on my soapbox, but here are some of the things that have been getting me through this pregnancy.

Vitamins: Vitafusion Prenatal and Vitafusion Women’s Daily Vitamins. They’re gummy, fruity, and easy to take. I haven’t had any nausea with them, and remember to take them every day (perhaps the fact that they’re essentially adult versions of Flintstones vitamins helps). I've found them at Target and CVS, though I've linked to the Amazon purchase options here.

Burt’s Bees Mama Bee Belly Butter: Great lotion to help prevent stretch marks. I put it on every day post-showering. It’s thick and creamy without being impossible to spread, easy to rub in, quick to dry, and lightly scented so as not to offend the budding mama’s olfactory glands. The fast-drying component is a real bonus, as it means I can use it in the morning before getting dressed for work. I also have Weleda Massage Oil and Sweet Almond Oil, but use those more sparingly because they require that I not have to put clothing on for a while after applying them.

Water: Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate. I keep a full water bottle with me at all times, since I’ve found that there’s really no such thing as too much water when you’re pregnant. Staying hydrated can help prevent stretch marks, Braxton Hicks contractions, and low amniotic fluid. It’s also great for staving off headaches and, to some extent, the inevitable dehydration that I seem to experience with pregnancy. Can’t get enough of REALLY cold water.

Fruit: Really this is fruit of any sort, but I can’t get enough mango, pineapple, and berries. The pop of sweet, additional hydration, and the fact that these fruits are packed with beneficial vitamins are all pluses. I cannot wait for peaches and plums to truly be in season!

Moving Comfort Fiona Sports Bra: Staying active is a priority for me, but my…growing…chest has made some of my standard workouts far less comfortable than they would normally be. On top of that, some of my regular sports bras and tops have felt indecent as the girls have grown. Enter Moving Comfort’s Fiona Sports Bra. It’s not an actual maternity or nursing bra, but it sure is versatile! It has great support, with an adjustable strap around the rib cage AND adjustable shoulder straps that connect with velcro, meaning that you can adjust it quickly and easily, as well as disconnect one of the straps if you need to nurse. I’m excited to use these as we transition to actually having Baby Tarhall in the picture.

Weespring: Website that enables you to aggregate items on your wish list, review items you have, and see reviews from members of the community PLUS your friends in the network. I still adore my spreadsheets, but am excited to give this site more of a try.
